Every two years, Apple releases a new generation of iPhone SE. Last year, the iPhone SE 2022, the third generation, was released. As a result, its successor has been widely rumored to be delayed in the past. In the latest development, Barclays analysts have confirmed this. Yes, iPhone SE 4 is confirmed to be delayed.
The next-generation iPhone SE (expected to be called iPhone SE 4) has been postponed, according to Barclays analysts. In their research note, they said the delay was caused by 5G modem issues.
Since Apple bought Intel’s smartphone modem business, it’s been working on its own baseband chips. According to two Barclays executives, the iPhone SE 4 will use the company’s 5G modems instead of Qualcomm’s. The next-generation SE and probably the 2024 iPhone 16 series will not feature Apple’s modem but rather Qualcomm’s.
It’s not just the 5G model that’s delayed iPhone SE’s arrival. Display maker BOE is also having trouble making low-cost OLEDs. According to rumors, the next-generation iPhone SE 2022 will have an OLED display instead of an LCD.
The iPhone SE 4 has been delayed before. The first-generation SE was announced in 2011 and the second-generation SE was announced in 2020.
