Samsung may be planning something special for Galaxy S23 owners to kick off August. Samsung Germany customer support reports that the One UI 6.0 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series will start on August 2, followed by a beta program for the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 on August 9.
It was initially expected that the Galaxy S23 beta program would launch in the third week of July. The delay didn’t happen, but as we had predicted, Samsung doesn’t seem to be delayed too long, as its community forums in India and the US recently added One UI 6.0 sections.
It is surprising that Samsung might bring Android 14 and One UI 6.0 beta to Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 owners after the Galaxy S23 series gets it. Beta programs are traditionally opened for flagship phones before mid-range models. It’s good to see Samsung paying more attention to mid-range Galaxy devices instead of just its top-of-the-line handsets.
The release date for Samsung’s One UI 5.1.1 on its devices is also unclear. In early July, Samsung released a One UI 5.1.1 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8, and now that the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9 are official, Samsung will release the One UI 5.1.1 update to eligible devices.
One UI 5.1.1 will be rolled out to the public at some point, but it is unclear when. Whether the Galaxy S23 lineup will receive the One UI 5.1.1 update ahead of the One UI 6.0 beta remains to be seen.
