Upon launch in September, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to be in short supply. LG Display apparently has problems manufacturing screens.
In order to shrink the bezel size, a new manufacturing process is being used. Apple has apparently also faced a similar issue with some Apple Watch models in the past.
LG’s displays for the iPhone 15 Pro (and, again, especially the Pro Max) are reportedly failing reliability tests during the process of fusing the display to the metal casing. In order to pass these tests, Apple is currently tweaking the design of LG displays, and it still has Samsung displays it can use for assembly.
However, these issues will allegedly limit the number of units that will be available right from launch. After the Pro, it will be most difficult to obtain the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Earlier today, a separate report claimed Apple would delay the launch by a few weeks, but this new source contradicts that, citing a shortage. Something’s wrong with those displays, and it’s affecting Apple’s launch.
