Despite its long history in smartphones, Google is fairly new in the smartwatch market. After the first-generation Pixel Watch went official last year, the wait is on for the successor. The new model is expected to bring improvements and resolve issues from the first attempt. According to a new leak, the choice of material will be one of the noticeable changes.
The upcoming Pixel 2 smartwatch will be made of aluminum, according to a 9to5Google report. According to the article, anonymous sources made the claim, but no concrete evidence was provided to support it. However, the smartwatch is expected to feel lighter as a result of the change.
For the Pixel Watch, Google currently uses stainless steel. With no straps, it weighs about 36 grams, which is heavier than many other wearables. Fitbit Sense 2, for example, weighs just 26 grams without a strap. It is possible that this is the reason why the team chose a lightweight yet durable material.
Fitbit is also preparing to launch Coach-branded workouts, according to the report. Fitbit Premium users already receive workouts similar to these. With the Pixel Watch 2, the change is mostly related to branding.
