AirPods and AirPods Pro might come with several health features, according to a recent report. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his weekly newsletter Power On, claims Apple will launch AirPods models with hearing health monitoring, such as audiograms. According to Gurman, Apple plans to position its future AirPods Pro as hearing aids.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to add health features to its next AirPods and AirPods Pro. Apple will introduce new AirPods and AirPods Pro with hearing health features, including an audiogram test that uses tones and sounds. By doing this, the user will be able to determine how well they hear sounds. A third-party app, Mimi, allows users to create audiograms with their AirPods Pro. Users won’t need these third-party apps once Apple integrates the feature into AirPods.
Furthermore, Apple plans to integrate body temperature measurement into the next generation of AirPods. It detects internal body temperature through the ear canal and warns users before they fall ill. The Apple Watch Series 8 and Watch Ultra already monitor body temperature. As a result, it works only while the user is sleeping and through the wrist skin. There is a high probability that new sensors will be more effective at detecting body temperature inside the ear canal.
In addition, Gurman claims that Apple will switch to USB Type-C charging on its future audio products, including the next-generation AirPods. Apple usually updates its AirPods lineup every three years. AirPods 3rd gen were launched in 2021 and AirPods Pro 2nd gen in 2022, so there is still some time to go before next-generation AirPods are available.
