Digital Chat Station, a Weibo tipster, reportedly anticipates Xiaomi’s latest flagship models will be called “Houji” and “Shennong.” Both names are derived from Chinese mythology, continuing the Xiaomi 13 theme.
Based on Chinese mythology, the codenames hint at Xiaomi’s focus on user experience, design aesthetics, and Leica imaging. “Houji,” the great-grandson of the Yellow Emperor who began cultivating crops, and “Shennong,” the Yan Emperor known for his contribution to agriculture and farming techniques, are revered in Chinese lore.
In the earlier Xiaomi 12 series, codenames included Zeus, Thor, and Cupid. In the Xiaomi 13 series, codenames included “Fuxi” and “Nüwa,” characters from Chinese mythology. With its upcoming Xiaomi 14 series, Xiaomi appears to be upholding this recent tradition, further strengthening its cultural links with consumers.
Xiaomi has hinted at key specifications for the 14 series. It has been reported that the Xiaomi 14 series will have impressive camera capabilities. In addition to recording 4K videos, the front-facing camera is capable of taking stunning selfies. There is a powerful zooming periscope lens on the rear. Xiaomi 14 Pro will feature a periscope lens with a 5x optical zoom and a focal length of 115mm, compared to Xiaomi 14 with 3.9x optical zoom. Even from a distance, users will be able to capture detailed images with these specifications.
