Razr 40 Ultra sets new standards for flip foldables’ cover displays – its 3.6″ 1,056 x 1,066-pixel display (413ppi) is the largest available, and it even has punch holes for rear cameras. Rumors suggest that it won’t be able to match the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5.
As can be seen in early 3D renders, the new Flip will have a 3.4-inch 720 x 748p (304ppi) display that stops short of the cameras and wraps around them. Based on previous reports, Yogesh Brar posted a summary of the Galaxy Z Flip5’s expected specs.
Design:
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature both a 6.7-inch internal foldable display and a 3.4-inch cover display. The circular camera cutout also stands out prominently in these renders.
The cover display is shaped somewhat like a folder icon on a PC. Due to the dual cameras, the panel needs to be trimmed a bit at the top. It’s quite a unique implementation and not one that many Samsung fans would have expected.
There is a possibility that this quirky design will bring us new software features. According to a recent report, Samsung has begun adapting its software to match the cover display’s irregular shape. It may be divisive to some people. Others may feel that Samsung should have taken a different approach.
