The new OnePlus Nord 3 will be launched globally on July 5 by OnePlus. The device is said to be a rebrand of the OnePlus Ace 2V from China and will have a similar design and specs. Camera-wise, there is one major upgrade coming for the global market.
OnePlus Nord 3 promo material leaked by tipster Ishan Agarwal reveals a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor for the primary camera with optical image stabilization. OnePlus has already used this sensor on devices like the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus 11R. Also revealed in the promo material is that the device will have up to 16GB of RAM, as well as RAM-Vita (virtual RAM).
As a result of the addition of this sensor, the camera capabilities of the device will undoubtedly be enhanced. Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge that overall camera performance is heavily dependent on the image signal processing capabilities of the system-on-a-chip (SoC). MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 chipset will be featured in the Nord 3 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8 Plus Gen 1. Given that the chip utilizes both hardware and software components, it will be interesting to see how well it can harness the Sony IMX890 sensor’s potential.
