In India, Jio has launched a Bluetooth tracking device called JioTag. It works through Bluetooth and is much less expensive than Apple AirTags, which use GPS to locate items. The tag can be attached to handbags, wallets, or any other item users want to track with the JioThings app on their smartphone.

JioTag:

The JioTag is powered by a removable CR2032 battery that offers a 12-month battery backup. JioTag has a range of up to 20 meters indoors and 50 meters outdoors. Using Bluetooth 5.1, the JioTag connects to the internet.

Misplaced items can be located using JioTag. Double-tap the JioTag to ring the phone, even in silent mode. If users leave their wallets, keys, or other belongings behind, JioTag will alert them to their exact location.

JioTag offers a Community Find feature. Users can use this feature even if their belongings cannot be found at the last disconnection location. On JioThings, users can mark their JioTag as lost, and Jio Community Find will search and report back the lost JioTag’s location.

It measures 3.82×3.82×0.72 cm  and weighs just 9.5 grams.

Pricing:

On the Jio website, the Apple alternative JioTag costs Rs 749, though its MRP is Rs 2,499. Cash-on-delivery is also available for certain pin codes. For a single tracker, the Apple AirTag costs Rs 3,490.

The JioTag comes with an extra battery and lanyard cable, making it easier for users to attach it to their belongings.
