A new MacBook Air model with Apple’s cutting-edge M3 series chipset is reportedly in the works. Apple just announced a new 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip during WWDC 2023, but a new report hints at its successor.
According to the Cupertino company, its 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chipset is the world’s thinnest laptop with an 11.5mm thickness. It appears that this model will get a refresh with a more powerful chipset. A new line of MacBook Air models equipped with next-generation M3 processors will soon be produced by Apple, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
In line with our previous reports, this new laptop model is expected to launch in 2024. M3 SoCs are successors to M2 SoCs and offer energy efficiency and performance improvements. In addition, this chipset will be based on the 3nm TSMC process, which will be used in MacBook Airs with 13.6 and 15.3 inches screens. We can expect the base M3 to feature an 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU based on the M3 chipset.
Gurman also revealed that Apple is working on a new iMac model and a MacBook Pro, both powered by the M3 chipset. According to the report, the upcoming iMac with the M3 chipset will be similar to the M1 iMac. The iMac is expected to launch around the first half of next year, but the M3-based MacBook Pro is still a mystery.
