There has been an increase in consumer interest in foldable smartphones. US smartphone users are likely to choose a foldable device for their next purchase, according to a report. It is imperative that no brand is left behind with the market expansion. Tecno is one of several newcomers in this unconventional category this year. On May 10, Google will also unveil the Pixel Fold. According to rumors, OnePlus will also launch its first foldable in August.
According to Max Jambor on Twitter, OnePlus will unveil its first foldable smartphone in August. Although the leaker didn’t specify a date, the company confirmed during MWC 2023 that it indeed plans to launch a folding-screen smartphone later in 2023. It is also expected that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 will launch around the same time.
“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.” said Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus at the event.
There isn’t much information available about the OnePlus foldable at the moment. Others claim it will be an entirely new device, not a rebranded Oppo Find N2. OnePlus needs a unique device to enter the category or else the consumer won’t be able to tell the difference.
