The upcoming Lava Agni 2 5G will be the first smartphone to use MediaTek’s “new” Dimensity 7050 SoC, which was unveiled yesterday. The Dimensity 1080 was launched last October, so we call it “new”. The chip is the same, just renamed! It’s still all about bragging rights for Lava.
Today, a list of the Agni 2’s most important specs was leaked, alongside a hands-on image.
Rumors suggest the phone will have an AMOLED screen with an embedded fingerprint sensor, Android 13, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage, as well as a 50 MP rear camera.
Since the first Agni was released in November of 2021, its successor took its sweet time. Comparatively, the new model should provide a nice performance boost over the Agni, since it is powered by a Dimensity 810. The RAM remains the same, the storage has doubled, and the main camera has gone from 64 MP to 50 MP. Since the original Agni had an LCD screen and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, its successor definitely has nice improvements in all areas.
