In ten days, Sony will unveil the Xperia 1 Mk V. It has been teased with a similar design to its predecessors, but now its design has been confirmed. In Hong Kong, a billboard revealed the new flagship’s triple rear cameras vertically aligned, with a more prominent oval island and larger lenses.
Reddit users posted a photo of a billboard revealing the new Xperia 1 will have “the next-gen double low-noise camera sensor”.
For the main camera, Sony is implementing an IMX989 sensor, but it might opt for the IMX858 since it is the only platform that supports the low-noise mode LN2 and MCSS (Multi-Camera Synchronization System).
In order to work, LN2 implements a new CMOS sensor architecture. In order to increase dynamic range, allow more light, and reduce noise without affecting overall performance, photodiodes, and pixel transistors are now stacked one on top of the other, rather than being applied on the same substrate and plane.
Due to Sony’s lack of a habit of revealing specs early, we’ll probably have to wait until May 11 for details on the Xperia 1 V.
