As part of Samsung’s Z-series of foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Tab will become part of that line. There is little else known about the device – will it be a triple foldable as earlier rumors suggested? It’s unclear and perhaps even unlikely (having two hinges will make things more complicated).
There have been numerous leaks of Samsung’s next-generation flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S9 series. @Tech_Reve reports that Samsung is planning to unveil a foldable tablet along with the Tab S9 series.
A design drawing from a Samsung patent filed a couple of years ago shows how such a tablet might look. As shown in the patent, the tablet can be folded forward or backward depending on whether the user wants to protect the display or create a smaller display with a wide aspect ratio.
Samsung has already made four generations of Z Folds and now needs to scale that up to tablet size. Patent drawings don’t always become reality, of course, and a single-hinge design will be easier to make.
As Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 nears, we should have more reliable information about its future product lineup. Moreover, Apple’s first foldable device is expected to be an iPad rather than an iPhone. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, it will launch in 2024, so Samsung still has time to beat its main rival to the market.
