Motorola announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Edge 40 Pro earlier this month, which was expected to be followed by the Edge 40. In the meantime, Motorola’s Edge 40 has appeared on Geekbench, suggesting the launch is close.
In Geekbench 6’s single and multi-core tests, Motorola Edge 40 scored 1,105 and 3,542 points, respectively. In addition to running Android 13, the device had 8GB RAM and was powered by MediaTek’s MT6891Z_Z/CZA SoC. It has four cores running at 2GHz and four running at 2.6GHz.
Geekbench does not name the SoC, but rumors claim the Motorola Edge 40 will be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8020. Furthermore, the designator “MT6891Z_Z/CZA” in Geekbench’s CPU information section resembles the Dimensity 1100’s model designation, which is MT6891Z/CZA. In addition, the Dimensity 1100 has an eight-core CPU, four of which run at 2GHz, while the other four run at 2.6GHz.
To be certain, we’ll have to wait for more sources to confirm this bit about Motorola Edge 40’s SoC.
