We can now move on to the other big Samsung flagship launch of the year – the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5. There are some preliminary details regarding the upcoming foldable that have been shared by reliable tipster IceUniverse.
It is reported that the Z Flip5 will feature a 3.4-inch external display. The screen will be larger than the Oppo N2 Flip’s 3.26-inch panel, and it will have a nearly perfect square aspect ratio of 1:1.038. To hide its crease, the inner screen is said to have narrower bezels and a new waterdrop-style hinge.
It has been confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold5 will retain its predecessor’s 6.2-inch cover screen. In addition to being 0.2mm narrower, the device will use a droplet-style hinge like the Z Flip5 to hide its crease and eliminate the gap when closed. When folded, the Fold5 will be thinner than its predecessor, measuring 13.xmm versus 15.8mm on the Z Fold4. With a weight of 254 grams, it will be a lighter device as well.
In addition to being equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy chipset, both upcoming foldable will be waterproof to IPX8 standards.
