Realme announced the GT Neo 5 duo in China today, with one version supporting 240W charging. Realme confirmed it will arrive on the global market as soon as this month, which is the fastest yet.
However, the Realme GT3 will be the phone that brings the new technology outside China, not the Neo 5. Although it’s possible that the company will simply rebrand the phone, that hasn’t happened with the Neo and GT series, so the overseas markets may get a different phone.
A 240W dual GaN mini charger and a custom 12A charging cable were designed to allow 240W charging. Since a standard 240W charger would be absurdly large, the GaN part is very important.
With a 4,600mAh battery, the GT Neo 5 is likely to share at least that bit with the Realme GT3. This is the first battery supporting more than 200W charging that’s certified by TUV Rheinland for longevity, according to Realme. It includes more than 60 layers of protection. According to theory, it should retain 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charging cycles.
