The MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch 2023 editions as well as the Mac mini with the new Apple M2 Pro and M2 Max processors were announced by Apple today. There are also new connectivity options for MacBooks, and the Mac mini has a lower starting price.
Apple’s MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models can now be configured with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which offer up to 20% faster CPU performance and 30% faster GPU performance than the previous generation M1 variants. Apple provides three preset configuration options for each size, or you can customize any of the options to have whatever processor, memory, and storage configuration you want.
Here you’ll find two variants of the M2 Pro and M2 Max. With the M2 Pro, you can choose between a 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU or a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU. There are two configuration options for the M2 Max: 12-core CPU and 30-core GPU or 12-core CPU and 38-core GPU.
Moreover, the new processors offer updated unified memory configurations, with the M2 Pro offering 16GB and 32GB options and the M2 Max offering 32GB, 64GB, and 96GB options. The built-in flash storage can also be configured from 512GB up to 8TB. On the cheapest variant, 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage come standard.
With the new processors, the 2023 models will also have a better battery life, with the 14-inch model offering up to 18 hours of video playback and 12 hours of wireless web browsing, and the 16-inch model offering up to 22 hours.
Improved connectivity options are also available on MacBook Pro models. The HDMI has been updated to support up to 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 240Hz, and Wi-Fi 6E has been added for faster wireless connectivity.
Pricing:
The MacBook Pro 14 costs Rs. 1,99,900/- for the base, Rs. 2,49,900 for the M2 Pro 12-core variant & whopping Rs. 3,09,900/- for the 12-core M2 Max variant. The MacBook Pro 16 starts at Rs. 2,49,900/- for the 12-core M2 Pro variant, the 1TB variant cost Rs. 2,69, 900/- and the top-end M2 Max cost Rs. 3,49,900/- in India. Starting Tuesday, January 24, they will be shipped.
Mac Mini:
The new Mac mini now comes with the M2 and M2 Pro processors. Due to the discontinuation of the old Intel variant, it now has a lower starting price of $599.
In the Rs.55,900/- and Rs.79,900/- models, the Mac mini has an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. They both come with 8GB of unified memory as standard but can be configured with either 16GB or 24GB manually.
As standard, the Rs.1,29,900/- model comes with a 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU, but can also be configured with a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU. It comes with 16GB of unified memory and can be upgraded to 32 GB. In M2 models, up to 2TB of storage can be configured, while in M2 Pro models, up to 8TB of storage can be configured. The Mac mini does not support M2 Max.
The new Mac mini models all come with Wi-Fi 6E, but the M2 Pro model also has HDMI 2.1 as well as four Thunderbolt 4 ports instead of two on the M2.
