MIUI 14, Xiaomi’s next-generation UI for its smartphones, was unveiled at an event in China today. MIUI 13 was introduced in December of last year. MIUI’s global monthly active users have reached 564 million, according to the company.

Performance improvements:

According to Xiaomi, MIUI 14 razor project enhances the system’s lightness.

The system is simplified with ultra-small firmware, memory usage, and only 8 applications that can’t be uninstalled. In addition, it cleans up applications, saves only one copy of duplicate files, and compresses low-frequency applications. The management of notifications has also been improved.

MIUI’s new photon engine operates on the Android kernel and is open to third-party developers. In high-load scenarios, the system is smoother, and the three-party communication is also smoother.

It brings more energy savings and smooth information flow. Third-party applications have increased their energy consumption by up to 22%. The MIUI photon engine can also be accessed by more developers.

Privacy features:

As part of its commitment to security and privacy, Xiaomi recently won the authoritative certification of Tell Labs in both privacy and security.

With MIUI14, privacy capabilities are further enhanced on the device side.

Cloud computing is not used, no data is sent to the cloud, and 30+ system scenarios are covered. According to Xiaomi, image extraction and text recognition are all done locally, making them faster and more accurate than iOS. Video conferencing, recording, and translation with real-time bilingual subtitles are more confidential, it said.

Visual Changes:

The MIUI14 offers a more personalized and rich visual experience. Xiaomi says small changes make a big difference. There are large, changeable icons on this. Each icon has four sizes, making the home screen more visually appealing.
