Over the past few months, we’ve heard rumors that Reliance Jio is developing a smartphone with 5G capabilities.
Geekbench reported today that device LS1654QB5 is the first Jio Phone 5G. It is based on Snapdragon 480+, an 8nm platform launched in October 2021.
The Snapdragon 480 chipset is being used on a phone for the second time. In the first rumor, the device was said to have 4 GB of RAM and Android 11, however on Geekbench, we can see that Jio is taking it a step further and bringing Android 12.
The upcoming device may or may not feature JioPhone Next’s Pragati OS, a custom version of Android that Jio has been working on with Google. It is expected that the phone will have a 6.5″ LCD with HD+ resolution, a 13 MP triple camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities via USB-C.
