As with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold4 in August without an S Pen slot. With Samsung’s future foldable smartphones, that could change since Samsung stated last month in a meeting with its suppliers that the Galaxy Z Fold series lacks a dedicated stylus slot, which is one of its biggest challenges.

Due to weight and thickness limitations, Samsung couldn’t include an S Pen slot or flagship cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold4.

To make the Fold lineup more popular, Samsung aims to improve these features, as well as make the devices lighter, thinner, and more durable. Furthermore, the company wants to reduce screen creases by developing software to fit the 4:3 screen ratio of the Fold series.

Furthermore, Samsung told its suppliers that by 2025, it expects the foldable smartphone market to grow at 80% CAGR.

Apple may also enter the foldable market in 2024, but with laptops and tablets first. Moreover, Samsung revealed that iPhone users in their 20s and 30s were switching to Samsung foldable smartphones at a rate three to four times higher than before. Up to 90 percent of current foldable smartphone users plan to upgrade.
