In China, OPPO unveiled the Reno 8 series of smartphones earlier this year. Reno’s lineup consists of three phones: Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro, and Reno 8 Pro+. The Dimensity 1300, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, and Dimensity 8100 Max chipsets power these phones. According to reports, the Chinese manufacturer is now developing the Reno 9 series of smartphones. The Reno 9 processor has been revealed by reliable tipster Digital Chat Station.
While the previous generation had the SM7450 chip, the upcoming model will have the SM7325 chip. Unlike the Reno 8 Pro, which came with the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile platform, the Reno 9 Pro, which is likely to be called, will have the Snapdragon 778G processor.
It is believed that the Reno 9 Pro will feature an older chip, but the tipster claims that it is an “upgrade.” Currently, only the Reno 8 Pro and the Xiaomi CIVI 2 support the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 platform. It is unclear why OPPO chose the SD778G for the Reno 9 Pro.
The tipster previously revealed that the Reno 9 series would have a 4,500mAh battery. The lineup will support the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology’s new charging protocol, UFSC (Universal Fast Charging Specification).
Besides the Snapdragon 7-series chip, DCS also revealed that the Reno 9 lineup will include Dimensity 8-series processors. Apparently, the Reno 9 series will debut in China by Q4 of this year with a red color option called “Everything Red.”
