A camera sample has been leaked by leakster Ice Universe from a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra prototype. Although the phone won’t launch for another few months, the results are already promising.
Samsung’s S23 Ultra will be its first 200MP phone, using a sensor developed by Samsung itself. We have seen 200MP ISOCELL sensors before (HP1 and HP3), but this one will be new (1/1.3″, 0.6m, according to the leakster). A 50MP mode is also expected (rather than just 12.5MP and 200MP originally claimed), but it is not yet available.
This crop was taken from photos taken by a Galaxy S23 Ultra and a Galaxy S22 Ultra. Compared to the current model, the new phone produces a much sharper image and is able to resolve tightly packed parallel lines. This shot was taken without AI-based image enhancements.
As far as the telephoto camera goes, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to keep the old one from the 2022 Ultra. According to the leakster, improvements in image processing will lead to better image quality.
