Today, Intel announced its 13th generation of desktop processors. It consists of three new CPU models with two variants each, named ‘Raptor Lake’. Compared to the 12th generation, Intel claims the 13th generation offers 15% better single-threaded performance and 41% better multi-threaded performance.
The latest Core i9-13900K, along with its iGPU-less counterpart, the 13900KF, is at the top of the range. In keeping with the hybrid architecture of the 12th gen, the 13900K has 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores, totaling 32 threads (there is no Hyper-Threading on the E-cores). There are 32MB of L2 cache and 36MB of Intel Smart Cache (L3) on board. E-cores can run at 4.3GHz and P-cores up to 5.8GHz. In terms of power, the CPU has a base power of 125W and a max power of 253W.
The following parts do not have an official retail price, but rather the RCP (recommended customer price), which is the price for retailers for every 1000 units. There is a $589 RCP for the 13900K and a $564 RCP for the 13900KF. There will be a slight increase in street prices.
The 13700K has 8 P-cores and 8 E-cores, totaling 24 threads. There are 24MB of L2 cache and 30MB of L3 cache on this device. The P-cores can be boosted up to 5.4GHz and the E-cores can be boosted up to 4.2GHz. Base power is 125W and turbo power is 253W (same as the i9). There is a difference of $384 between the 13700K and 13700KF in terms of their RCP.
The 13600K has six P-cores and eight E-cores, totaling 20 threads. The L2 cache is 20MB and the L3 cache is 24MB. P-cores boost up to 5.1GHz, and E-cores up to 3.9GHz. 125W is its base power, while 181W is its maximum power. The 13600K has a RCP of $319, while the 13600KF has an RCP of $294.
In all six models, PCIe lanes are 20 (up to 16 PCIe 5.0 + 4 PCIe 4.0). DDR5 5600 and DDR4 3200 memory are supported, while faster memory can be added via XMP. There is an Intel UHD Graphics 770 on all non-F SKUs.
Both the Z790 chipset motherboards and the 600-series motherboards will support 13th gen processors. On October 20, new processors and motherboards will be available.
