A small delay delayed One UI 5.0’s first public beta, which was expected in July. The S22 series – Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra – are the first to be rolled out gradually in Germany. S90xBXXU2ZHV4 is the firmware version.
Samsung has added new features to One UI 5.0 that are part of Android 13. The notification center will be redesigned with smoother animations to enhance the user experience. The Gallery supports optical character recognition, which allows you to copy text from screenshots. Furthermore, a smart suggestion will appear based on your text, such as taking a picture of a phone number or website that will allow you to call/visit immediately.
Changelogs mention things like split-screen multitasking, stackable widgets, and filtering notifications from noisy apps. Besides improving sound and vibration settings, it also improved search in My Documents and added features for Bixby Routines. You can create videos with two emojis, make AR stickers from images, and use new emojis.
In Pro mode, the camera app now displays a histogram. One-handed zooming is now possible with the zoom bar, and Food mode is available for the telephoto lens. Each photo can be watermarked with the time and date or other information you specify.
There have been improvements to Samsung DeX as well, especially with the taskbar. Besides a search button, there is a calendar widget when you tap the date. Taskbar notifications will appear as red dots. Select functions can be accessed by right-clicking on an app. In addition, spell correction and emoji input have been added to physical keyboards.
Samsung Internet, Health, Pay, Members, the Galaxy Store, SmartThings, and others have all been updated.
It is expected that One UI 5.0 will be released in October. We will probably hear more about it at Galaxy Unpacked next week.
