It’s finally here: the third generation of the Motorola Edge. Unlike the flagships and lites of the series, the vanilla Edge models stick to mid-range duties. Besides that, there aren’t a lot of consistent features that define an Edge. Sadly, the company didn’t reveal the pricing details.
Design:
The new Motorola Edge 2022 looks similar to previous leaks with the same design as the Motorola Edge 30 Pro. The device features a centre punch-hole display on the front with slimmer bezels. On the back, the device features triple cameras with LED flash aligned vertically. It measures 6.7mm thick & weighs 155g.
Specs:
The new Motorola Edge 2022 will sport 6.6 inches OLED FHD+(1,080 x 2,400p) 10-bit display with 144Hz refresh rate support. It also comes with in-display fingerprint scanner support. Motorola Edge 2022 becomes the first to be powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 1050 SoC.
A key selling point of this chip is mmWave 5G. There are also two Cortex-A78 CPU cores (2.5GHz) and six A55 cores (2.0GHz), along with a Mali-G610 MC3 GPU. The phone is not as fast as a Dimensity 8000, but it will offer faster Internet speeds than phones with sub-6GHz 5G.
It is coupled with 8GB RAM & 256GB storage. It features a 50MP main with OIS, 13MP ultra-wide with f/1.5 aperture & 2MP depth sensor with LED flash. There is a 32MP selfie shooter under the punch-hole notch.
The Motorola Edge 2022 runs on Android 12 OS out of the box. It packs a 5000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with Dual 4G LTE, 5G NSA, Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.2, A-GPS, GLONASS, Dual Frequency GPS, USB Type-C port, & NFC. It comes with an IP52 rating making it water-resistant & with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
