Jio and Google had previously partnered and were working on affordable 5G phones for India. They also launched the cheaper smartphone with JioPhone Next in the country last year which didn’t do as the number of sales as expected. Now we have a massive leak for the upcoming cheaper JioPhone 5G.
As per the source, Jio and Google will again join hands and launch the next affordable 5G phone in India this year. The source revealed that JioPhone 5G will be 6.5 inches HD+ with a resolution of 1600 x 720p. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC with 4GB RAM & 32GB internal storage. It will also come with microSD support for storage expansion.
The JioPhone 5G will sadly run on outdated Android 11 OS. It comes with standard features like Google Assistant support, read-aloud text feature, instant translation via Google Lens, and Google Translate. It will come with Jio standard apps MyJio, JioTV, JioCinema, and JioSaavan.
The device will feature dual rear cameras 13MP main sensor & a 2MP macro sensor. There 8MP selfie camera for video calling. The device will pack a 5000 mAh battery & 18W fast charging support. It comes with connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, A-GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, 5G, and dual-SIM card support.
The source also gave the design details of JioPhone 5G which will now feature a punch-hole display with thinner bezels. It comes with rounded edges. The source revealed that JioPhone 5G is currently in the prototyping phase. There will be multiple SKUs under the JioPhone 5G series and the above-shared details are of one of it.
