Realme may be exploring an under-display camera on its current flagship, the Realme GT. The under-display technology, originally shown on ZTE’s Axon 20 5G smartphone, drew a lot of attention for its full-display immersion.
Today, @Debayan Roy found a concept from Realme that indicates the firm may release a Realme GT with an under-display camera. See the renderings below.
According to the pictures above, the new Realme GT lacks a notch or even a punch hole. Another option is this idea phone with a pop-up camera. As pop-up cameras haven’t gained much popularity, this phone may receive the next trend: an under-display camera.
While the Axon 20 5G was the first smartphone to have an under-display camera, the reception was mixed. This technique gained popularity when Samsung introduced its own under-display camera (on the Galaxy Z Fold 3).
However, the picture quality from under-display cameras is still lacking and the technology is yet experimental. But others were nonetheless eager to watch in full-screen. Realme seems to be following Samsung’s lead by developing a smartphone with an under-display camera.
Anyway, we’ll have to wait for further leaks to see whether this new Realme phone is really a Realme GT with an under-display camera. As of this writing, there is no official confirmation that this will ever be produced.
