The Pixel 6 and Android 12 stable rollouts are nearly here, but Google isn’t done with this year yet. Google’s first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold, is expected to debut by the end of 2021.
Renders:
The gadget will likely feature an inward folding flexible screen. LetsGoDigital, in cooperation with designer Waqar Khan, has created some stunning renderings of the alleged foldable device.
The renders resemble the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The selfie camera is located in the upper left corner of the exterior display. LetsGoDigital expects the front display to have large bezels, which they have represented in their renderings.
Inside the bigger panel is another selfie camera. The gadget has a foldable hinge-like Samsung’s Fold series. Remember that these are artist renderings and may not accurately depict the Google Pixel Fold.
The USPTO has previously awarded Google a patent for a multi-axis soft hinge mechanism and a folding gadget using it. The 58-page manual claimed an innovative hinge mechanism that folds the gadget with just a tiny wrinkle.
Similar to the Google Pixel Fold images above, the patent detailed a device with an inward folding display that may unfurl into a tablet-sized device. It’s reasonable to presume Google’s Pixel Fold will have a similar design.
The new Google Pixel Fold is to launch later this year. Sources say “end of 2021”.
A blogger originally leaked the gadget in 2019, and a newer leak indicates it would have an LTPO OLED panel. It may possibly have an under-screen camera, but we won’t get our hopes up.
