.This is not about vaccines, it is about the new AMD mobile graphics processor that Samsung is ready to include in its Exynos series of mobile chipsets to make them compete with Apple’s homebrew Imagination GPU, which is consistently topping benchmarks.
The Exynos 2200 is slated to be Samsung’s first chipset enhanced by AMD, but Taiwan’s vast chip foundries report that Samsung’s high-end phones will not be the only ones featuring AMD inside.
Galaxy A53 & Galaxy A73 key specs:
Samsung usually announces and reveals the most advanced members of the A-series crop around December each year. We could see the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73 as early as this year.
The A72 was announced in March and released in April this year. So we might not get a chance to see how the Exynos series with AMD graphics performs. Before the Galaxy S22 is announced in winter and released in spring.
The upcoming A-Series Exynos with AMD won’t use the rumored flagship Exynos 2200. That will have four high-performance CPU cores. Instead, they will use two. Even so, it will reportedly integrate AMD’s mRDNA graphics subsystem. It will come with “less than 10% throttling,” something unimaginable for Exynos processors. Some of which are already at 50% throttling on the third demanding benchmark pass.
Samsung’s midrange series could also receive an upgraded AMD GPU, just as its flagship models do. It’s too early to tell if this is true, but considering everyone has been taping their own processors for customization and chip shortage reasons, it’s still possible.
