Motorola launched the Moto E20, an Android 11 Go edition smartphone, only a few days ago. Evan Blass reported that Motorola is working on a somewhat more upmarket variant, the Moto E40, which will be released later this year.
An unnamed octa-core CPU will be used to power the phone’s hardware. It’s impossible to tell without knowing more about the processor, which is likely to be similar to that found in the E20, or whether it’ll be something more powerful.
The E40, on the other hand, will have a 6.5-inch 720p+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, as opposed to the E20, which has a 6.5-inch screen with a 60Hz refresh rate. Because we haven’t seen a Go edition phone with a screen with a fast refresh rate, this indicates that it will run full-fat Android.
It is also expected that the triple camera system would include a 48 MP primary sensor, which would be another first for Android Go phones. Although the purpose of the other two modules is still unclear, it is possible that they are ultra-wide and depth sensors, or that they are macro and depth sensors.
In any case, the specifications seem to be quite similar to those of the Moto G20. It has a Unisoc T700 chipset, a 6.5-inch 720p+ 90-Hz display, and a 48+8+2+2-megapixel quad-camera setup on the back. It’s conceivable that the E40 and the G20 are connected in some way.
