Mi 12 series is expected to be unveiled by Xiaomi later this year. We have learned a few key details about the phones ahead of the launch. XiaomiUI reports that the upcoming Mi 12 series will come with a 200MP front camera. Several rumours have suggested that Xiaomi will add a 200MP camera sensor to its future flagship phones. The rumours are unsubstantiated, so there is nothing concrete to support them.
According to XiaomiUI, its 12 Ultra model, codenamed Zeus, will feature a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP periscope camera with 10x zoom. While the vanilla 12 features an ultrawide camera and a macro sensor. We don’t know the specifics of these sensors.
These devices will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoCs, also known as Snapdragon 895 SoCs. According to a previous report, the 12 series will have LPDDR5X RAM. This week, the X-version of LPDDR5 was introduced. The maximum data rate is increased to 8,533 Mbps from 6,400 Mbps. It performs twice as well as LPDDR4X.
Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 870 chips do not support LPDDR5X RAM. It is expected that the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, dubbed Snapdragon 898, will support LPDDR5X. Recent leaks have revealed details of the SD898 SoC. With four cluster cores configured in a 1+3+2+2 structure, Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 has four cluster cores.
