As a surprise, Sony released a “Lite” version of the Xperia 10 III. It appears that it will only be available through Japanese MVNO carriers (and SIM-free), but you won’t be missing much.
Sony Xperia 10 III Lite has half the storage of the original Sony Xperia 10 III to 64 GB. You can still use the microSD card, and the RAM capacity is still 6 GB. It’s important to note that the Lite model can only be purchased with a single SIM, but there’s an eSIM, so you can still have a second phone number.
Similarly, FM radio support was removed from many regions, but that was not a significant change. It still comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so it’s a minor change.
Otherwise, it’s the same as the standard Xperia 10 III. The phone has a 6.0″ 1080p+ OLED display, the Snapdragon 690 chipset, a 4,500 mAh battery with fast charging, and IP68 dust and water resistance.
Additionally, the camera setup remains the same with a 12 MP main camera, an 8 MP telephoto and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle, plus another 8 MP camera on the front. Read (or watch) our review for more details.
Sony will offer the Xperia 10 III Lite via Rakuten Mobile, IIJmio, Mineo, Goo, and Nuro Mobile. While all three carriers get Black and White units, Rakuten is the only provider with Blue and Pink options. Yellow doesn’t exist.
It will be available on August 27 (next Friday) for the price of JPY 46,800 (Rs.31,800).
