As expected, Apple will launch its next iPhone in September, according to Wedbush analysts. The “iPhone 13” should be revealed during the third week of September.

Apple holds fall events for the iPhone and other products, with the iPhone launch itself typically occurring in September. With the iPhone 12 range being announced in October of 2020, some analysts believe Apple could return to its previous form for 2021.

iPhone 13 launch details:

Wedbush estimates that the Asia supply chain for the second half of 2020 can produce 130 million to 150 million iPhones, according to a note to investors seen by AppleInsider. According to the breakdown of specific products, the “iPhone 13” accounts for between 35 and 45% of third-quarter builds.

Wedbush reckons this outlook gives it “enhanced confidence” that launches in 2021 will follow a “normal” timeline instead of a delayed one.

According to the investment bank, the iPhone 13’s launch might be for the third week in September. Based on the current build level, the “iPhone 13” family have ordered 90 million units. When compared to initial tests for the iPhone 12 which had 80 million units. Wedbush notes that the roughly 10% increase year-on-year is indicative of increased confidence by Cook & Co. that this 5G-driven product cycle will last well into 2022.

Wedbush is not the only one expecting a September launch. TrendForce released its own expectations on August 12, including a September release date.

Wedbush predicts that Apple will offer nearly twice as much storage in 2021 as it did in 2018. That’s double the 512GB limit of the iPhone 12 Pro. LiDAR will spread to all devices in the range, rather than being limited to the Pro generation.

Additionally, Wedbush expects Apple to witness a “robust consumer product cycle” due to high pent-up demand. In addition, roughly 250 million of the 975 million iPhones in use are over 3.5 years old.
