Realme X50 Pro Player Edition

One of the top Android phones of 2021 is the Realme GT, the first of Realme’s new line of smartphones that aren’t overly expensive but boast some impressive specifications. TechRadar has just learned that Realme has launched two new products in China, which will go global soon, but we have also learned the consequences of the launch.

In an interview with TechRadar, Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme Europe and Realme India, confirmed that the GT series is replacing Realme’s previous X series. ‘The X will be replacing the GT, so the GT is the new X,’ Sheth said, adding that only the X series will be affected; therefore, the C series and numbered series will likely remain untouched.

Realme’s X series features its upper-budget and mid-range handsets, like the X3 SuperZoom and X50 Pro from 2020, which sit above the company’s numbered ‘main’ smartphones like the Realme 7 and Realme 8.

Realme’s X line was lacking an identity and consistency between devices when compared to its other series, two points that the Realme GT certainly addresses. Although the phones were not bad – the Realme X2 Pro was the first handset from the company this writer tested and it showcased the company’s approach to low prices and high specs, with clarity and simplicity.
