A Weibo tipster claims Google will unveil the Pixel 6 duo earlier than expected. According to Mountain View, its next flagship smartphones will be powered by an in-house chipset and feature an upgraded camera system.
Google announced earlier this month that the phones would be unveiled this fall. Earlier this week, a company spokesperson confirmed that last year’s Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G have been discontinued.
A leaker named Bald Panda suggests the Pixel 6 will be released on September 13. Last year, the Pixel 5 debuted on September 30.
In general, this coincides roughly with Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE’s and Apple’s iPhone 13’s announcement dates. Apple will unveil its next smartphone lineup on September 14 and Samsung will unveil its budget flagship on September 8.
Google’s Pixel 6 seems to be the most exciting smartphone range in quite some time. The device will first feature Samsung’s 5nm Tensor chip, which will reportedly be made in-house.
A new camera hardware will also be included in Google’s phone. A 50MP main camera is expected to come with a 12MP ultra-wide unit. Besides a 48MP camera, the Pixel 6 Pro is expected to have a 5X zoom telephoto lens.
Additionally, the new devices should feature bigger batteries, integrated fingerprint readers, and UWB support.
It remains to be seen whether the Pixel 6 will live up to the hype and become the best smartphone of 2021. Google might use the Exynos chip and charge prohibitively for the phones with the Tensor chip.
With the Pixel 6, you can choose from black, mint green, and orange-coral shades, while with the Pixel 6 Pro, you can choose from black, gold, and silver. It is expected to be available in eight markets at least.
