Looks like the day has finally arrived for those waiting for the overpowered flagship chip from Qualcomm. Yes, the company has quietly announced the new Snapdragon 888+ SoC today which will power major flagship later this year.
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC comes with 3rd gen Snapdragon X60 5G -RF System that supports global mmWave and sub-6 across all major brands worldwide. It also comes with 5G Carrier Aggregation, multi-SIM support, stand-alone, non-standalone, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing.
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC features 7th gen Qualcomm AI Engine with a new Hexagon 780 processor that offers whopping 32 tera operations per second and comes with a third-gen Qualcomm Sensing Hub. The SD888+ SoC also comes with third-gen Snapdragon Elite Gaming with a new Adreno 660 GPU.
The new SD888+ SoC will come with a new Spectra 580 ISP that supports a triple 28MP sensor, dual 64MP sensor, or 200MP single sensor at once. This time the new ISP is almost 35% faster than the SD865 SoC. The new SD888+ SoC comes with a 5 nm process with a single ARM Cortex X1 which is clocked at 2.995 GHz. The next set of three Cortex A78 cores is clocked at 2.84 GHz & four Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.84 GHz.
It will come with support for a 4K HDR display at a 60Hz refresh rate or a 2K display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm also confirmed that the first set of devices powered by SD888+ SoC will be made by Asus, Motorola, Xiaomi, and vivo.
