Looks like Asus has finally launched its flagship smartphone with ASUS Zenfone 8 & Zenfone 8 Flip today. The new ASUS Zenfone 8 & Zenfone 8 Flip are the direct successor to last year’s launched Zenfone 7 series. The ASUS Zenfone 8 comes in Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver colors whereas the Zenfone 8 Flip in Galactic Black and Glacial Silver colors.

The new ASUS Zenfone 8 looks like compact flagship to compete with Apple’s new iPhone 12 Mini. Yes, the new ASUS Zenfone 8 feels like a pretty compact phone and also super light in weight at just 169g and measures 9mm thick. The ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip is proper flagship that weighs 230g and is 9.3 mm thick. The ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip looks similar to the Zenfone 7 series in terms of design and comes with different specs.
Specs:
ASUS Zenfone 8 sports compact 5.9 inches FHD+ Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. It also gets the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top along with HDR10+ support. The new ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip gets a larger 6.67 inches FHD+ Super AMOLED display with HDR10+ support and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on top.
Both the new ASUS Zenfone 8 & ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip are powered by the same SD888 SoC coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM & 128GB/256GB storage support. The ASUS Zenfone 8 still features a microSD card slot for further storage expansion.
The new ASUS Zenfone 8 features a 64MP camera with a Sony IMX686 sensor with f/1.8 aperture & OIS along with 12MP ultra-wide camera with a Sony IMX363 sensor with Dual PD AF, f/2.3 aperture & 8K support. The new ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip features the same sensors as ASUS Zenfone 8 but with an additional 8MP telephoto lens with OIS, aperture of f/2.4, and 3X optical zoom.
The new ASUS Zenfone 8 features a 12MP Sony IMX663 selfie shooter on the front. Both the new devices will ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner support. The new Asus Zenfone 8 series will also get Dual stereo speakers with Dirac HD Sound, a 5-magnet speaker with dual NXP TFA9874 smart amplifiers. It also features triple-mics with OZO Audio Zoom & ASUS Noise Reduction Technology.
The new ASUS Zenfone 8 series comes with Dual SIM with 5G (SA/NSA), Dual 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.2, A-GPS, GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, FM Radio, USB Type-C port, 3.5 mm audio jack and NFC.
The new ASUS Zenfone 8 & Zenfone 8 Flip packs a 5000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging Qualcomm QC 4.0 support. It runs on Android 11 OS with Zen UI 8.0 on top.
Pricing:
The ASUS Zenfone 8 will set you back at a price tag of $599 (Rs.44,100/-) for 6GB+128GB & 16GB+256GB at $799 (Rs.59,000/-). It will go on sale in the coming weeks in Europe and late July in the US. The ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip cost 799 Euros (Rs.71,000/-) for 8GB+256GB and will go on sale later this month.
