Looks like Qualcomm is not gonna end with its chipset game for the budget flagship segment this year. Unlike last year we saw Qualcomm launching the cheaper flagship SD855+ SoC. Later this year we saw Qualcomm SD855+ got upgraded to SD860 SoC and then the SD865+ SoC too got upgraded to SD870 SoC. Now the 2021 flagship SD888 SoC will also get a cheaper alternative soon.
As per the tipster, Qualcomm is currently working on a cheaper flagship chipset with SD888 like specs codenamed SM8325. Yes, Qualcomm is now planning to introduce a budget flagship chipset for developing countries like India with SD888 Lite SoC that comes with similar specs as the flagship but doesn’t feature 5G support.
The new SD888 was the first chipset to ship with integrated 5G modems when compared with predecessor like SD855+, SD865 & SD865+ SoC which relied on the separate modem. So we hope this news might bring some ray of hope to many users in countries like India where owning a flagship is a spending bomb. Nothing much about the cheaper SD888 SoC is revealed at the moment.
