Qualcomm has just surprised everyone with its new 5G chipset for the budget segment today. Yes, Qualcomm just announced the new SD480 SoC for cheaper 5G devices. The new Snapdragon 480 SoC is the first ever 5G chipset from Qualcomm for sub-10K segment devices.
The new Snapdragon 480 SoC is built on an 8nm process and comes with eight Kyro 460 cores of Cortex chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. It comes with Adreno 619 GPU the same one found on the SD750G too. The new Snapdragon 480 SoC comes with a 100% increase in performance when compared with SD460 SoC.
So basically the SD480 SoC will be the most powerful budget chipset to date. The new Snapdragon 480 SoC will also get support for 120Hz refresh rate displays with FHD+ support. It also comes with Wifi-6E ready, Bluetooth 5.1 support. The Snapdragon 480 features the Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF System to support mmWave and Sub-6 GHz 5G with NSA and SA bands.
The SD480 SoC will come with Qualcomm Spectra 345 ISP that brings the first triple camera support on the SD4xx series. The SD480 SoC will have triple 13MP camera support on the main, ultra-wide, or depth/macro sensor.
