Previously we saw many renders showing the new Redmi K40 & Redmi K40 Pro. But sadly, still we don’t have the final design or renders of the device yet. Recently we even got rumours about Redmi might launch the Redmi K40 by end of this month. Now we have new leaks which not only reveal the launch details but also provide the key specs.
According to the tipster, Xiaomi sub-brand will launch its cheapest mid-range phone with 5G support aka the Redmi K40, not before Jan 20. Yes, the source is pretty sure that Redmi K40 will be going official only after Jan 20 in China. The reason behind the delay is the new chipset from MediaTek will be introduced later next week.
So the new Redmi K40 will indeed use MediaTek chipset this time with 5G support. Sadly, we are not sure the exact chipset at the moment but it could be the upcoming MT6893 which is based on 6nm process. There are also leaks about MediaTek will also launch the top-end flagship Dimensity 2000 SoC by Jan 20.
As per leaks, the MediaTek MT6893 will come with four Cortex-A78 CPU cores which are clocked at 3.0 GHz. It is coupled with three cores capped at 2.6GHz & four power-efficient Cortex A55 cores. The chipset ship with new Mali-G77 MC9 GPU and this chipset will be for mid-range devices.
