Looks like we have got some early leaks revealing some of the details of the 2021 flagship the new Galaxy S21 series. Previously we saw various leaks suggesting that Galaxy S21 might not be the world’s first to ship with the under-display camera. We even got to know that Galaxy S21 series might use mighty Exynos 1000 SoC which will be using AMD GPU.
Now we have some new reports revealing the camera details of the new Galaxy S21 series. As per the report, Samsung is finally saying goodbye to the not so famous 3D ToF sensor which made its debut with Galaxy S10 series. Samsung has finally removed the ToF sensor on the Note20 series this year and the same will follow for the next year flagship Galaxy S21 series.
The reason behind ditching the 3D ToF sensor is, for now, there is hardly any application for the same. Further, Samsung uses indirect ToF tech when compared with direct ToF tech by Apple. As the direct ToF tech is made by Sony and is exclusive to Apple which Samsung can’t use on their phones.
The report also states that Samsung has still not given up with the ToF sensors as their company System LSI Business department is closely working on sensor which can improve the indirect ToF sensor performance.
