After the huge success of Jio Phone which launched almost four years back the company is now planning to introduce the cheapest feature phone soon. Yes, the new Jio Phone 5 will be the next phone from Jio which will be even cheaper than the Jio Phone.
As per the source, sometime in December last year Jio had conducted an online survey regarding the third iteration of Jio Phone. Now some of the industry insiders have just revealed that the company has begun development of the cheaper version of Jio Phone which is codenamed as Jio Phone 5.
Further, the source also revealed that Jio Phone 5 is not the final marketing name of the device instead it might be called as Jio Phone Lite. Further, the Jio Phone 5 or Lite will be completely Make in India phone from Jio.
The source also revealed some of the features of the alleged Jio Phone 5 which will come with Facebook and WhatsApp apps pre-loaded. The device will again run on KaiOS out of the box. The Jio Phone 5 is rumoured to cost as low as Rs.399/- in India. Further, Jio is also bundling free calls to Jio users but for the Internet, one has to recharge.
The new Jio Phone 5 will target mainly for rural users as still many of them are relying on 2G phones. The Jio Phone 5 will again be a candy bar phone with a small display and alphanumeric keypad.
