Huawei has finally launched the new Huawei P40 series to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. Yes, the new Huawei P40 series will now include not two but three new devices with Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro & Huawei P40 Pro+. The new Huawei P40 Pro+ will be available in White Ceramic & Black Ceramic whereas the Huawei P40 & Huawei P40 Pro in Silver Frost, Blush Gold, Deep Sea Blue, Ice White & Black colours.
The new Huawei P40 series is already up on pre-order in Europe right from today and will offer Huawei Watch GT2 free along with Huawei P40 & P40 Pro only till May 4. The new Huawei P40 price starts from 799.90 Euros (Rs.65900/-) for 8GB+128GB, Huawei P40 Pro at 1049.90 Euros (Rs.88300/-) with 8GB+256GB storage whereas the Huawei P40 Pro+ at 1399 Euros (Rs.1,17,600/-) in Europe. The Huawei P40 Pro+ will go on sale from June 2020.
The new Huawei P40 series becomes the first device to run on the latest EMUI 10.1 UI on top of Android 10 and doesn’t come with Google Play services. Yes, Huawei has introduced some alternative to Google Play Store as App Gallery and also comes with interesting features like Facetime-like video calling application called MeeTime. It also comes with Huawei Music with free three months subscription.
The new Huawei P40 series looks strikingly similar to previously leaked renders and comes with Galaxy S20 series like rectangular camera module. The Huawei P40 series features a ceramic glass back with chamfered metal edges which gives premium look and feel to the device. The new Huawei P40 weighs 175g and measures 8.5 mm thick, Huawei P40 Pro at 209g and measures 8.95 mm thick and Huawei P40 Pro+ at 226g and measures 9 mm thick.
The new Huawei P40 comes with 6.1 inches OLED single punch-hole FHD+ display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080p at 60Hz refresh rates. The Huawei P40 Pro & Huawei P40 Pro+ sports 6.58 inches QHD+ OLED display with 90Hz refresh rates (2640 x 1200 Pixels). The new Huawei P40 comes with a lower IP53 rating whereas Huawei P40 Pro & Pro+ with IP68 making it splash, Water & dust resistant. All the three devices do feature an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The new Huawei P40 series comes with new Kirin 990 5G SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB. Sadly, as of now, there is no 12GB/16GB RAM variant which we saw with Galaxy S20 Ultra. It also comes with Huawei proprietary memory cards for storage expansion.
The new Huawei P40 features triple rear cameras whereas the Huawei P40 Pro with quad and Penta rear cameras on the Huawei P40 Pro+. The new Huawei P40 features 50MP Ultra Vision Camera with Wide Angle, f/1.9 aperture, OIS, 16MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera with an f/2.2 aperture and 8MP Telephoto Camera (f/2.4 aperture, OIS) with 3x SuperSensing zoom and LED flash.
The new Huawei P40 Pro features 50MP Ultra Vision Camera with Wide Angle, f/1.9 aperture, OIS, 40MP Cine Camera with Ultra-Wide Angle, f/1.8 aperture, 12 MP 3X SuperSensing Telephoto Camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS), and 3D ToF sensor with LED flash.
The new Huawei P40 Pro+ features 50MP Ultra Vision Camera with Wide Angle, f/1.9 aperture, OIS, 40MP Cine Camera with Ultra-Wide Angle, f/1.8 aperture, 8 MP 3X SuperSensing Telephoto Camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS), 8MP SuperZoom Camera (10X Optical Zoom, f/4.4 aperture, OIS) and 3D ToF sensor with LED flash.
All the three devices do come with 4K Video recording support at 60fps and use RYYB pixel primary sensor. It also features a new AF system called Octa PD Autofocus and comes with upgraded Night mode called Huawei XD Fusion Engine which allows joining several photos into a single image to have more detail.
All the three devices do come with Dual selfie shooter with 32MP main sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 and IR/Depth (Pro & Pro+) sensor for facial recognition. Huawei Celia is the new voice assistant that supports English, French and Spanish. It can handle anything from basic tasks (e.g. adding reminders, making calls) to AI-powered features like AI lens and AI touch shopping.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE, 5G support, Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, USB Type-C port, A-GPS, NavIC, GLONASS, Dual Frequency GPS, Galileo, QZSS, and in-display fingerprint scanner.
The new Huawei P40 packs lower 3800 mAh battery with 22.5W HUAWEI SuperCharge and no wireless charging support whereas the Huawei P40 Pro & Huawei P40 Pro+ packs 4200 with 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge & 27W & 40W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge respectively.
