We also got a few concepts renders showing the Surface Phone. Now Microsoft has applied for new patents which confirm that the company has restarted work on the upcoming foldable phone.
As per the source, Microsoft has recently applied for a patent on a hinge that can be used on the device to enlarge or fold display with WIPO. As per the listing, the new hinge will allow the alleged Surface Phone to act as a laptop when folded the upper part act as display whereas the bottom part as the keyboard.
Further, the new hinge can be rotated completely 360 degrees which allow users to turn it into the mobile phone. Further, the patent also shows the usage of the display to see the notification received. Anyway, Brad Sams also confirmed that Microsoft will launch the new Surface Phone aka Andromeda later this year but will not be a compact device after all.
