Meizu Zero

Meizu earlier teased about the world’s first holeless display without any ports. Now Meizu has just unveiled the first of its kind smartphone with Meizu Zero in China. Sadly, Meizu didn’t reveal the pricing and availability details about the new Meizu Zero. So today Vivo is also unveiling the similar device with Vivo APEX 2019 which will feature pop-up selfie camera.

The new Meizu Zero comes in Black and White colors and is made out of metal and glass back. The new Meizu Zero doesn’t come with any port nor any opening and rely heavily on the touch screen, eSIM capability and wireless charging. The new Meizu Zero sports 5.99 inches FHD+ Super AMOLED display along with mSound 2.0 which emits sound via display what we saw on original Mi Mix and Vivo APEX. It also doubles up as an earpiece to receive and make calls.

It features pressure sensitive power and volume keys which are similar to HTC EdgeSense where one have to squeeze the device to increase the volume or turn on the device. Further, there is no SIM card slot as it features eSIM which we saw on iPads. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The new Meizu Zero comes with older SD845 SoC with unknown RAM and storage options. The new Meizu Zero features Dual rear cameras with the primary 12MP wide-angle lens using 1/2.3″ Sony IMX380 sensor, 1.55μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, and secondary 20MP telephoto lens Sony IMX350 sensor, f/2.6 aperture, with 6-LED ring LED flash and OIS support. It features 20MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and AI Face Unlock feature.

The connectivity option includes Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE support via eSIM, A-GPS and GLONASS. Sadly, there is no 3.5mm audio jack nor the USB Type-C port but comes with support for 18W Wireless fast charger. It also features IP68 rating which makes the device dust and water resistant.
