Qualcomm has finally unveiled the flagship chipset for 2019 with Snapdragon 855 SoC Snapdragon Technology Summit in Hawaii. The new Snapdragon 855 SoC turns out to be the worlds first multi-gigabit 5G chipset which ships with AI along with Xtended Reality.
The new SD855 SoC comes with 4th gen multi-core AI engine which provides three times better performance than the SD845 SoC. The new SD855 also becomes the world’s first SoC to ship with computer vision (CV) ISP to provide the best photography and video recording features.
The new Snapdragon 855 SoC also comes with Snapdragon Elite Gaming which offers next level mobile gaming for top-end devices. The new Snapdragon 855 SoC also becomes the worlds only chipset to have Qualcomm 3D Acoustic Sensor aka ultrasonic fingerprint scanner support that can sense and unlock the device faster with better accuracy and will also occupy less space when compared to the optical fingerprint sensor.
The new Snapdragon 855 SoC will ship with Snapdragon X50 5G Modem so that it becomes the only chip to come with 5G support. Qualcomm also announces that Samsung and Verizon will bring the first 5G smartphone by the first half of 2019. Sadly, Qualcomm has not shared the specs of the new Snapdragon 855 SoC and might be unveiled today.
Qualcomm also shared the first set of OEM’s to use the new SD855 SoC which includes Samsung, HTC, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, ZTE, Motorola, Nokia, Google, Asus, Sony, OnePlus and LG.
