Huawei has launched the first 7nm built a processor with Kirin 980 earlier this year which was also powering the recently launched Huawei Mate 20 series. Today we have news about Huawei already began working on successor with Kirin 990.
As per industry insider, Huawei has already started working on the Kirin 990 SoC which reportedly built by TSMC 7nm process. Further, the source also claims that Huawei has already invested whopping CNY200 million for R&D.
As per the source, the new Kirin 990 will have same cores as the predecessor but with new first – the Balong 5000 modem, certified for 5G speeds. Anyway, the Kirin 990 will not launch anytime soon as it will hit mass production first half of 2019.
