Xiaomi finally announces two new devices with Mi 8 Lite and Mi 8 Pro aka Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 Screen fingerprint Edition launched in China. The new Mi 8 Lite will come in Aurora Blue, Sunset Gold and Midnight Black colors whereas the Mi 8 Pro in Sunset Gold, Black and Transparent Titanium version. The new Mi 8 Lite is priced at 1399 Yuan (Rs.14,900/-) for 4GB+64GB, 1699 Yuan (Rs.18,000/-) for 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB at 1999 Yuan (Rs.21,200/-).
The Mi 8 Pro is priced at 3199 Yuan (Rs.34,000/-) for 6GB+128GB and 3599 Yuan (Rs.38,200/-) for the 8GB+128GB variant. Both the devices are up on pre-orders but the Mi 8 Pro will go on sale from Sept 21 whereas the Mi 8 Lite from Sept 25 in China.
Mi 8 Lite:
As the name suggests the new Mi 8 Lite is the trim down version of the original Mi 8. The new Mi 8 Lite comes with more premium design when compared with Mi 8. The new Mi 8 Lite comes with Gradient finish similar to some Honor devices with glass back. The special feature includes with the help of AI the device display sets the perfect color temperature based on environmental condition while taking selfies.
The new Mi 8 Lite weighs around 169 grams and is 7.5 mm thick. It sports 6.26 FHD+ display with a resolution of 2280*1080p and having an aspect ratio of 19:9 along with 2.5D curved glass on top. The Mi 8 Lite arrives with SD660 AIE SoC coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage option. There is no support for microSD card slot.
The new Mi 8 features a Dual rear camera with a primary sensor of 12MP having an aperture of f/1.9, Sony IMX363 sensor, 1.4μm pixel size, and 5MP Samsung S5K5E8, 1.12um pixel size with Dual LED flash. There is a 24MP Sony IMX363 sensor Selfie camera with 1.8um pixel size. It features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE, Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS, GLONASS, and USB Type-C Port. The Mi 8 Lite runs on Android 8.1 with MIUI on top. It features 3350 mAh battery along with QC 3.0 support.
Mi 8 Pro:
Apart from that, Xiaomi also unveiled the premium version of Mi 8 with Mi 8 Pro. The new Mi 8 Pro looks similar to Mi 8 Lite with Gradient back along with glass on top. The main highlights of the device it comes with the new in-display fingerprint scanner which is 29% more faster-unlocking speeds than the Mi 8.
The new Mi 8 Pro weighs around 177 grams and is 7.6 mm thick. It sports 6.21 FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280*1080p and having an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 along with 2.5D curved glass on top. The Mi 8 Pro arrives with SD845 SoC coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage option. There is no support for microSD card slot.
The new Mi 8 Pro features a Dual rear camera with a primary sensor of 12MP having an aperture of f/1.8 with 26mm wide-angle lens, Sony IMX363 sensor, 4-Axis OIS, 1.4μm pixel size, and 12MP Samsung S5K3M3, with an aperture of f/2.4, 1.0um pixel size, 2X zoom, with Dual LED flash. There is a 20MP Selfie camera. It features an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE, Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS, Dual Frequency GPS, NFC, GLONASS, and USB Type-C Port. The Mi 8 Pro runs on Android 8.1 with MIUI on top. It features 3000 mAh battery along with QC 4.0+ support.
