Samsung has finally launched the Samsung Gear Watch S4, oops now it is rebranded as Samsung Galaxy Watch. The new Samsung Galaxy Watch will be available for $349.99 for the 46mm version and $329.99 for the 42mm version. The 46mm version of Samsung Galaxy Watch will come in Silver and 42mm with Midnight Black and Rose Gold options. The Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE variant will be available later this year. The Samsung Galaxy Watch will go on sale from Aug 24 and is up for pre-orders from today in the US.
The new Samsung Galaxy Watch looks similar to previous gen Samsung Gear S3 with circular display along with rotatable dial. The Samsung Galaxy Watch with 42mm weighs 49 grams and 12.7 mm thick whereas the 46mm weighs around 69 grams and is 13 mm thick.
The new Samsung Galaxy Watch will come in two version one with 42mm which sports 1.2 inches (360*360p) whereas other with 46mm with 1.3 inches (360*360p) circular Super AMOLED Always On display. Both the versions are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ on top.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch powers by Dual Core Exynos 9110 SoC clocked at 1.15 GHz coupled with 768MB RAM on Bluetooth Only and 1.5GB RAM on LTE version along with 4GB internal storage. The Samsung Galaxy Watch also comes with inbuilt speaker for listening to music and activating voice messaging or GPS.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch comes with 39 workout modes and 21 new indoor exercise modes that allow users to track their activity. It also comes with intuitive calorie tracking and personalized alerts. The Samsung Galaxy Watch automatically detects high levels of stress and offers breathing exercises to help keep users centered and focused.
The connectivity options include 3G/4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wifi, NFC, MST, A-GPS, GLONASS and Heart Rate Sensor. The 42mm Samsung Galaxy Watch is fueled by 472 mAh battery whereas the 46mm with 270 mAh battery with support for Wireless charging and battery life for 4 days on a single charge. It also features 5 ATM along with IP68 rating which makes the device dust and water resistant and one can even wear it while swimming.
The new Samsung Galaxy Watch runs on Tizen Wearable OS 4.0 out of the box and supports Android devices running on Android OS 5.0 and above whereas Apple devices running iOS 9 and above.
